 Details

FR 422 is passable w/ 4WD vehicle for 1 mile from CO-12. It's a long slog up the remainder of the road - I followed an old sled track for the first few miles before trailbreaking began in earnest. The standard NE/E slopes of Trinchera are loaded and show signs of natural avy activity so I avoided them. The N ridge is safely accessible and the ridge itself is straightforward with one fun, short 3rd class section near the top. The traverse to Leaning North & Leaning South Peaks from Trinchera is trivial. I descended east from the saddle between Trinchera and Leaning North via steep, wind-scoured scree and talus to connect back with FR 436. About 15mi/5000ft RT.
