Climbed Dead Dog and descended via the standard trail. DD is still in for you skiers though it's pretty cut up and has a fair bit of avalanche debris.

The approach was largely snow free with some snowy sections in the first 1.5 miles - didn't need traction for that. We threw microspikes on for the descent once we got over to Gray's and kept them on until ~12K feet. Saw lots of post holes from warmer days.

We were able to make it to the summer TH just fine, snow is almost entirely gone. The road is worse than last year, there's one narrow part maybe 1 mile from the TH with deep holes - we had luck staying far to the left.

Do you feel it could have been done without snowshoes at this time? Trying to decide if we need to lug them up. Just wanting to summit grays and torreys nothing fancy.

It's full coverage from about ~12K feet up if taking the standard route. I suppose it depends what time you're heading out and how sunny it will be that day. We didn't carry snowshoes but it was cloudy all day and we were off the mountain early so it's hard to say.

Awesome. Thanks. Iâm assuming no way around the snow along the ridge of the bowl until youâre closer to the summit?
Appreciate your intel
