Snow is nearly bullet proof. Cornice has an entrance on it's left. Two rocks the size of footballs flew by within 30 yards of me.
Trying to think back on Pacific's North Couloir. I think Ice has a steeper section than Pacific but overall I would say they are close to the same steepness.
I was in the party of three ahead of you and TG, one skier and two climbers. I think you can see us in one of your photos. Those rocks almost killed me, coming down when we were about exactly halfway up the couloir. The two biggest ones zipped by within a yard -- I literally dodged both, moving left then right -- and a third the size of a small dinner plate hit my left forearm. Extremely lucky it was a glancing blow and all I ended up with were abrasions and bruising. Closest call I've had in 10+ years of mountaineering. Anyway, congrats on your summit. Ice Mountain was one of the few peaks I've done that actually lived up to the hype. I might have some shots of y'all on Ice while we were on North Apostle. PM me your email if you want and I can send them over.
