All dry conditions past crater lake. Once on the 2800 ft of suck about a 1/4 in to it you hit few snow fields. 1 is avoidable. I would definitely take spikes and ice axe maybe can just climbed up the snow field insted but if crossing them the trail is slant so cross and go up a non trail to get back to trail. We had stopped a few hundred feet from the ridge. But definitely bring spikes and axe. Maybe will save time
Is there anyway to hike w/o reservations prior to June 28th, or am I better off waiting for my July reservations? Wouldn't mind hitting Pyramid later in the week if able.
I was looking at options to do this too, and doesn€„¢t seem easy... no shuttle till 6/28 so I guess you could look for a ride with someone that€„¢s booked in the next week or bike from the lot up?
The two ways around the reservations are to hitch hike (met slawrence2011 that did that over the weekend with skis super early morning) or what I did was park before the entry station and pedal a bike up the ~5mi to the TH.
