Did the entire circuit from Kite Lake (Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln and Bross) in just over 7 hours. The conditions were exceptional on all four mountains! The trail markings are inadequate or non-existent. Not really an issue until you get to Bross. 14er.com says the top of Bross is closed. That may be the official position, but it was a very easy and safe climb to the top. Biggest problem comes once you leave Bross heading back to the lake. One bad turn (again because of no signage) and you wind up descending a 60 degree skree field which is very dangerous! I'm an experienced climber and had to be extremely careful. Inexperienced or feint of heart need to be sure to stay on the correct trail, which is difficult to find. If they end up on the skree field there will be problems as there is no way to backtrack! |
