East Ridge trail is summer conditions with no issues. The third edition of Gerry Roach's Colorado Fourteeners lists the mileage from the 4WD trailhead at 7.2 miles. This distance is based on being the full two miles from the south trailhead at 9,620 feet. Restoration work and rerouting between 2017 and 2019 have lengthened the East Ridge route. I parked and camped 0.8 miles from the upper trailhead so my total mileage should've been 8.8 but was 11.7. Unless I am mistaken the route is approximately three miles longer round trip than the 7.2 listed in the Roach guide due to the rerouting. Keep this in mind when planning the day. Was a gorgeous blue sky day of high pressure with only moderate wind. Great day to get up high.
