|Peak:||Sheep Mountain D (13er)|
|Route:||From \"Peak Twenty Two\" + 12ers|
|Date of Info:||09/06/2020|
Descend the ascent route of "Peak Twenty Two" then traverse to Sheep. Sheep is steep and loaded with gravel but not all that bad and overall pretty quick and easy. Instead of descending the drainage to the west directly back to City Reservoir we went down Sheep's south ridge to Sheridan and Point 12,442. The distance between Sheep and Sheridan is quite long but super cool - it's darn near one solid piece of granite the entire way. Definitely worth checking out. Sheridan is steep but Class 2 and Point 12,442 is also Class 2. Both are ranked 12ers. We descended Point 12,442 to the southwest and intercepted the Endlich Mesa Trail which we took back to City Reservoir. I can't comment with absolute certainty on the viability of descending from Sheep directly to City Reservoir but it looked like it was OK.
On our deproach I climbed Point 12,470 (soft-ranked) alone and Whiley and I did Endlich Mesa (ranked) and Crevasse Benchmark (unranked), all 12ers. Crevasse Benchmark in particular is neat and worth exploring.
