Friday, trail 99.999% dry and summer conditions but no need for traction (a few spots with snow when first descending Bierstadt). Did not need gaiters in the willows as the mud was easily available, didn't get hit (pants were mud free). Regular Bierstadt winds near/at the summit (forecast said 15/30 mph winds/gusts), not bad, and as usual wind mostly dies down after Bierstadt. Smoke clouds of course but oh well. Just Sawtooth (-Evans). Approximate times if it matters: started at 8am, summitted before 10, got off the ridge around 1130, made it to the willows around 1220, and back to the car around 1315. |
