Had a beautiful sunrise and wonderful day hiking Sherman mostly to myself. Wore gaiters and they were helpful, brought microspikes and never needed them. Also brought an ice axe (just bought one as it's my first winter here) and only used to practice self-arresting in a snowfield below the saddle.
The ridge up to Sherman was mostly clear of any snow. The area below the saddle was the only area with significant snow. It evidently fell long enough ago where it was firm and some volunteers generously marked out soft spots by postholing ;)
