Prior to Jan 5 snow: No snowshoes needed until ~11k. From there, old snowshoe trench has been refurbished and there is a strong trench until treeline. Breaking treeline has the potential area of concern regarding avalanche hazard, but was not an issue for us. Obviously make your own determination based on the day. Cached snowshoes at 11.3k which worked just fine as onward to Sunshine and on to Redcloud mostly windblasted rocks.

Photos (click for slideshow):
#1) Typical bootpacking until 11k. Some deeper snow, some dry.#2) Upper tundra, we wore snowshoes until 12k.#3) Windblasted and cruiser.#4) Deep trenching in trees.

Nice work. That trench looks incredible.
I'm still thinking about this one soon.
