Boot track first couple of miles, then snowshoes went on, and I broke trail the rest of the way (mostly ankle to mid-calf). It was already filled in above treeline on the way down. I turned around with about 150 feet to the summit - didn't like weak snow on the ridge. Wasn't getting good purchase with axe, and the relentless wind could've blown me over. I was probably being a wimp and probably could've found a safe way to the summit, but I hadn't seen anyone all day, so I played it pretty safe. I have pictures, just not a good way to upload them right now. Malamute looked pillowy.
