Solid trench up Massive, but none existed for North Massive. Managed to set a skin track in deep snow. No issues with gaining the ridge, stayed in the trees. Above 12k ridge is windblown, no flotation needed. Long day.

Smart choice following the East Ridge up North Massive. Since you have already done Mt. Massive; it would have been painful to summit Mt. Massive again and do the double traverse to North Massive! What did Amy do? Mt. Massive? or did she go with you up North Massive?

She did Massive, traversed to North Massive and back and still finished 2 hours before me (I did lose time skinning to and from North Massive ridge and ski/skin transitions).
p.s. Not sure if it was smarter or not, but I just wasn’t looking forward to redoing that East ridge on Massive and the 2x traverse to North Massive. One time is enough.

Only because you had to break trail solo! I got to follow in some great footsteps. Also I’ve climbed Massive before from the southwest in summer all the way to N. Massive and back so I knew of the fun rock scrambling he mentioned. I have gps tracks of your winter route warning: I glissaded off Massives east face. Not recommended unless you’re comfortable with self arresting. And I bisected the summer trail back to the trench. ~17 miles that day. Must be why I’m so sick now. Or could be I was worried about my overdue friend. I don’t want to separate like that ever again. It about killed me worrying about you out there all alone even though I know how tough you are.
