Prize Benchmark
Condition Updates

Route: From Point 13,460 A

Info: Prize Benchmark is off by itself on this loop (Middle A->13,460 A->Prize Benchmark->"Booby Prize") and the ridge between it and 13,460 A has some ups and downs. It's hard to tell from 13,460 A's summit but the ridge is easier than it looks. Scramble and hike down from 13,460 A and up and over or around a couple of bumps to the (very) low saddle between the two peaks. Begin ascending Prize Benchmark, keeping an eye out for a narrow dirt path that leads around the south side of the ridge. This isn't the technical crux but is definitely the worst part of the route - the slope is steep and loose, the path is maybe a foot wide and crumbling, and any rock you can grab with your hands is suspect. The path leads to a crummy, loose Class 2+/3 gully to the ridge crest, and the remaining route is obvious from there. There's a couple of Class 3 spots but they're generally short and not exposed.

Route: North Ridge

Info: The climb from Booby Prize is essentially dry but the decent to 12750 is snowy and slick

Route: South Fork Lake Creek TH
Posted On: 2019-08-19, By: IHikeLikeAGirl
Info: Road is driveable to within 100-200 ft of the actual trailhead (AWD will suffice, with good clearance and careful driving in spots). Several avy debris fields along the road to the trailhead have been cleared/cut through...except for the one JUST before the TH. Social trails have been created to bypass the debris fields along the trail, but the debris is not that bad. Most of it, you will just walk through. Entire route is dry. Other than several sections of loose scree and rubble, it is a fun peak!

Route: N Gully

Info: Road is clear to Ruby, summer conditions. First 100 yards is very marshy. In the gully, I found better rock in the talus to climbers left rather than going up center.
