Info: Completely dry. If ascending Point 12,837 like we did there's one short snow crossing but the remaining ascent is dry. We attempted to go down Green Timber Gulch and turned around. There was still HUGE amounts of snow. DO NOT go down Green Timber Gulch without boots, insulation, waterproof gear, etc., and perhaps most importantly, ample time, for at least another couple of weeks. The snow there was waist deep, completely unsupportive, soaking wet, and extended far below treeline. Instead we went down Poplar Gulch, which was 99% dry, and hitched a ride back to Cottonwood Lake.

Info: The road St. Elmo is plowed. There's parking just east of St. Elmo. Arrive early if you want a place to park. Otherwise, you'll be parking further back on the road. On the way to St. Elmo, we passed the trailhead for Antero and did not see any trench or ski tracks. Our group of four broke trail (on snowshoes) up Poplar Gulch about 2.5 miles before we turned around. The snow was about knee deep, definitely a good workout. Even if we had the energy to reach the ridge, it looked loaded. This is a great snowshoe trail with moderate elevation gain.
