The road all the way to the trailhead is in relatively good condition with the last 1/2 mile being the worst. We made it all the way in a 2009 Honda Fit but we would probably not do it again, yet any car with a decent amount of clearance and power should have no problem making it with two wheel drive. The trailhead is unmarked and is easy to miss.
