Status Update
The Dunton Rd. turn off that is 5.2 miles below Lizard Head Pass will be closed for 2 weeks about 2 miles in starting 09/06/2016. There is another turn off for 535 below Stoner that will get you to this TH. Since you will come to the Navajo Lake TH first, you can park there because the Navajo Lake trail cuts into the Kilpacker trail. If you need more details the Dolores Ranger Dist. number is 970-882-7296.

wildsidesky	thank you for this 09/07/2016 13:37 was looking to go up there via kilpacker this weekend - so are you forced to park at the nav lake TH, or can you get to kilpacker and not beyond? thank you so much
alsrun	thank you for this 09/07/2016 14:17 You can pass by the Navajo Lake TH and continue on to the Kilpacker TH which is a mile or 2 further. Once you get past the Kilpacker TH you will be turned around within a couple miles. I don't know exactly where that would happen.

Nelson	Confusing 09/11/2016 12:52 I arrived at the turn off on Turn off on Friday at pm on Friday the 9th at 3pm. I stopped at the closed sign and a worker told me I could get to Kilpacker so I went on. The road to Kilpacker is in the best shape I've ever seen it in. Just past Kilpacker going towards Navajo it is definitely closed and there's no getting around. I packed in and camped and climbed ED yesterday. When I came out the parking lot was full and I drove out as easily as I came in.
