Thanks for the TR, Prakash. Looks like you guys had a sweet adventure! Glad the beta helped out. That smoked looked pretty thick!

Nice Lookin' Trip

Great job up there Prakash, looks like you guys nailed it! From what I've seen there aren't many routes/peaks in Colorado that compete with Wham/Vestal, and it's in the middle of the Weminuche as the cherry on top. I'm glad the beta worked out for you (it looks like the section you roped up for was indeed the class 5 move we talked about) and I'm glad Vestal's Asshole treated you well .

Cheers!

Great report. We've done that hike down (and back up) from Molas Pass a couple of times ... I agree that it is not as bad as people make it out to be (especially on the way out ... goes pretty quick). Thanks for posting. Happy trails!

Rope

I was heckled (borderline ripped) for using a rope by some old-timers a few months ago. But what can you do? I won't name names though.

I think Vestal's A-Hole is a lord helmutism.

Good to see you wandering the hills again.

2 classic climbs, 90$ saved on the Gaper Gauge Railway, 6 hours to get from Vestal Basin to Molas, a nice feast to celebrate and tracks in the scree field of Vestal's Anus....priceless!!

Thanks for a well-written TR with photos that say a lot about a climb I'm looking forward to.

again Kevin / Ben for the beta. The MP beta had me prepped for a solid several pitch trad climb. Glad I checked with you both.
Monster 5 / Brian - Never thought to look back at tracks in the scree... that was interesting. It's a bit messy to scree ski with the barefoot shoes.
Thanks Presto / Matt / Chinook. I'd say Wham is now in my top 5 favorite climbs to date.
Good to see some papperson representation here. Keep me posted on your plans this year Kevin. I'll do the same.

Gr8 report!

Good thing we brought the kitchen sink and defibrillator huh? Came into good use. Next step - taking all that gear on Bierstadt and fixing ropes for the amateur climbers! I made a dropbox account and put my pictures (and one video) from the trip on it...not sure how to share them with you now, but if you search for ”sarahstrattan@gmail.com” you might be able to find them? Not really sure how that website works. Thanks for an awesome trip - I learned a lot and those were by far the coolest 13ers I've ever climbed! Look forward to getting out with you in the future!

Thanks for posting...I've got this on my trip ticker for this summer after some bad weather last August, so here's hoping -- and your photos are very helpful for planning.
