 North Apostle

Saturday we went for a ski in the Three Apostles area with the objective of skiing Ice Mountain. The road was open perhaps a quarter mile past Winfield. So this led to a four mile approach up the valley (6.5 miles to summit) which we were able to skin from the car all the way to the summit.

Looking up the Ice Couloir.

As we got closer to the base of the couloir and pole pushes were still going in a full 50% of the pole length, we realized there was no way the two of us were going to boot up 900 feet of knee deep. At this point we decide to go for North Apostle and we skirt lookers left under the cliff band.
