After a long morning climbing Sunlight, the Spire & Marc charging Windom, and an afternoon of rain hail and lots of Goats we had a later start of 6:00 with plans to quickly tag Jupiter and hike down in the early afternoon.
We descended from high camp near treeline and met the Columbine pass trail in the meadow.
Crossing the Meadow
This Mine is pretty deep
Right on the Columbie Pass Trail
Just above treeline on Jupiter's SW steep slopes
Above the Steep Grassy Slopes
The Ridge proper was an exciting and worthwhile hike
Marc with Sunlight Peak & Sunlight Spire
Got em both in a Day finally!
The Power Of Zeus!
Sunlight Peak, Sunlight Spire & Windom Peak
Sunlight Spire!
Jupiter Peak! A great place to view our other conquests Steep Grassly ledges we descended Callisto? What's a backpacking trip without a waterfall shower Can't wait to see this in Winter/Spring Once again the Mighty San Juan Mountains have given us glory!
The 6 miles down with the large pack was difficult but it didn't matter. We had climbed everything in Chicago Basin we needed and got to preview many more trips of adventures. We made it in time for the Durango Train but opted to Camp near the river and ride back to Silverton at 11:00am.
Great Success!
