Great Day for Photos on Quandary

A beautiful day on Quandary today! I brought two USAFA cadets with me (international cadets from Senegal and The Gambia) and met two out-of-state friends at the trailhead. We left COS at 0430 and were hiking by 0642 after a short wait to locate our friends at the upper trailhead parking area. The trail is in great shape from recent rains, with the dirt parts of the trail soft without being muddy. We made very good time going up with our cadets running part of it. We took some breaks, passed several groups and summitted just about two minutes after 0900. The weather and light at the top was perfect, no threat of storms, and almost zero wind. We spent 45 minutes taking photos and snacking, just relaxing really, before heading down.
On the way down, we ran into a very cooperate Mountain Goat that allowed me to spend way too much time with my Canon 5D Mk III and a ridiculously expensive loaner lens (Canon 400mm F4L DO IS lens). I carted the damn thing up the mountain hoping to see some large wildlife, so it finally paid off as you can see. The trip down was uneventful, but crowded. There were literally hundreds of people on the mountain, plenty of well-behaved canines and children, and a great trail from top to bottom. You can see all of my pics for day HERE. Also, as is our custom, since our new cadet from THE Gambia summitted his first 14er, he was obliged to since his national anthem to all of us. HERE's that video! Enjoy!

Your goat pics are awesome. I was super dissapointed not to see any goats at all last year OR this year. Maybe I'll see some if I do Quandary again?
