American Basin - Handies Peak, Jones Mountain A, and American Peak



8:00 am - Leave Parking Lot
9:25 am - Break from group at Sloan Lake to head to Jones Mountain A
10:55 - Summit Jones Mountain A
11:30 - Saddle between Jones and American Peak
11:50 - Summit American Peak
12:05 - Leave summit of American Pk
12:55 - Back to Sloan Lake
1:15 - Leave Sloan Lake to head up Handies
2:00 - Summit of Handies Peak
2:15 - Leave summit
2:45 - Back to Sloan Lake
- Ice feet and calves in water
3:45 - Back to car

Notes:
- From the saddle to American Peak on the southwest side is a very nice trail as it contours the slope beautifully and is actually fairly flat making it solid.
- Ridge across to Jones Mnt. A does not exceed class 2, but has some exposure and very loose scree on ascent. Careful on every foot placement. Sucky rock.
