It feels so good to be back in Colorado permanently. My two year hiatus in Oregon left me wanting to get back into the backcountry. I could not think of a better way to kick that off than by going up and doing Gladstone Peak and Wilson Peak from Bilk Basin. This was a memorable one, to say the least. Bilk Basin is amazing. I've also included a GPX file for those that are interested.
Per usual, my full trip report is located on my website HERE.
There's some interesting footage of a near miss rock fall in here as well.
A few of my favorite images from the trip:
Heading up into Bilk Basin via the Sunshine Mesa TH
The Milky Way from camp
Gladstone and Wilson prior to sunrise
Lizard Head Peak from upper Bilk Basin
Navajo Basin from the Gladstone - Wilson Peak saddle
Sunset from Bilk Basin

Thanks for posting, Matt. I loved Bilk Basin when I went in there on a whim several years back, but the lake was frozen over in the June i was there. So it's even more beautiful to see the lake and wildflowers around it. Besides your splendid photography, I also enjoyed learning about your friend, Silas. That man has guts and I'm glad he has you as a friend.
Appreciate your comment - it has been a journey with my best friend Sarah/Silas and our relationship was forged through climbing mountains. He does have a lot of guts, no doubt!
