I wrote this trip report to provide an up to date more detailed write up on Ellingwood's north ridge from the S. Zapata Falls trailhead. (Plus the traverse to Blanca). This route is wonderful, beautiful, and fun. Do you want to see how much fun? Click below.
Congratulations on 50 & 51! It was nice meeting you on the mountains!
I'll make sure my friend who is interested in the Zapata route sees this.
We're the ones who were working on 51 & 52 and did Little Bear on Thurs. Our hike of Little Bear went well! The worst part was just the last few moves in the narrow part of the hourglass.
Ha! We weren't met with the same criticism by the GOBP. She was nothing but sweet to us! We thought you two were plenty prepared and you gals were bookin' it!
Nice pictures, thanks for all the beta on this route that's under-utilized. What camera do you use to get all that detail from your images? Congrats on your long and successful day!
Great report and photos. Always love reading about this route; it's such a special place. You guys do unprepared really well!! And I agree, going non-standard routes is a blast. You should try Little Bear's SW Ridge and continue to stay off Como road. I think you'll like it!
Thank you very much for the trip report. Really helps clarify what is going on up there. Looking forward to this in September.
