 "V 5" East Couloir

"V 5"

We parked at 10,400', 1.8 miles up the Ophir Pass Road from 550, and began the approach at 2:45 a.m. From the road, we immediately descended south and removed our boots to wade across the middle fork of mineral creek. We continued up the drainage following the creek to the base of the line. We climbed moderate snow up the east couloir for approximately 1000' feet and topped out to a beautiful sunrise. From the top of the line, it's a short scramble to the summit. After taking in the great views of S. Lookout and the surrounding peaks, we downclimbed the line, hiked out and arrived home in Montrose at 9:30 a.m. Definitely a fun way to spend a spring morning and enjoy a San Juan sunrise!

You think an avocado granado in my bag is funny? I guess that explains why such as obvious mistake occurred.
