 A Walk in the Park

Just a few photos from A Walk in the Park with Peter. Beautiful day and incredible route. More scrambling than you could imagine - really blows away any single route of any (other) 14er, or any of the great traverses combined in any combination.

Lots of fun challenges; Keyhole Ridge @ ~5.5 was certainly the technical crux; the sneak off of Pagoda was def. the routefinding crux, and the final knife edge (neverending!) off onto Thatchtop being maybe the surprise psychological crux? - lots of exposure, done on tired legs.

A Walk in the Park

For those who do not know, this route circumnavigates Glacier Gorge in RMNP. It was named "A Walk in the Park" by Rossiter - tongue in cheek as it is hardly a stroll! You summit Half Mtn, Storm Pk, Longs (via Keyhole Ridge according to Rossiter), Pagoda, Chief's Head, McHenrys, Powell & Thatchtop. It's not very far (13 miles?!), but it takes a while. For those comfortable scrambling up to 5.5 and with good route finding skills (especially on Pagoda) this is a real gem. Wonderful day out with the Long Ranger!
