 La Plata, South Fork Lake Creek Road, 6/26/05   

Started out at 5:14 am, almost turned around at 13200 due to weather. Waited in a fairly sheltered area for half an hour and things cleared up enough for me to reach the summit at 8:07am. Great trail, only a short portion was covered by snow, took the boulders up and slid down on my shoes for that section. Very windy, a few flurries, some hail but mostly sunny with temperatures going up and down between way warm and numbing freeze for the entire hike, must have stopped and changed clothes about 483 times. Going through the woods I managed to disturb the largest, fattest, yellowest porcupine Ive ever seen. It grunted and moved away, thankfully without leaving me with any mementos...
