There is a trail - west ridge

I followed the excellent route description on this site for Ouray - West Ridge, so no need to detail my entire hike. However, I made a bit of a detour right at the beginning. After I passed the Hutchinson & Burnett cabin I went right and into the open field. When I reached the trees, I stood and wondered, should I go to the right or to the left. I choose the right side. I could have avoided making my own trail if I had only gone to the LEFT side of the set of trees (two tall pine trees and one tree stump). If you go left there is actually a decent and accurate trail to follow (I discovered this on my way back)! The rest of the trip was easy, no surprises, the weather was fantastic and it got nice and cool above 12,000 feet when there were wind gusts. There was not a single other person, I had the mountain to myself. I am attaching a picture, if you follow the Ouray - West Ridge description on this site, you could call this maybe picture 4a.
