Throwback to #20 Huron Peak

I wanted to camp at the trailhead and do Missouri Mountain as well but it was so cold that I left and just drove back home to Colorado Springs at midnight to save Missouri for another day. I did start late in the day to complete Huron and clouds did threaten all day but was still able to summit.

Approaching Huron Peak

The Three Apostles

Gaining the summit ridge. Still snow in May 2018 but no traction was necessary just walked across the snow pack and maybe post hole a few times no problem.

Marmot friend can be seen in the middle, big guy. I remember also sitting near treeline to take a break and while I never saw anything I did hear what souded like a house cat hissing. I did not feel like investigating or having to fight some bobcat so I continued on in a hurry.

Crossing the snowfield. No traction needed on this day again just aim for the hard spots and deal with the times you do post hole.

Leaving the trail on the way back down. Again used the mountain bike to go from lower to upper trailhead. Tried to camp here over night but the cold drove me 2 hours back home instead to enjoy the warm bed.
