 My Evans trip

Started at Summit Lake at 5:25 AM. Cool morning. Trail up to Spalding is icy in spots. Use caution. We had traction (spikes) but not necessary. Some spots got a little tricky with ice forming on water run off from last evening. To the saddle between there’s some difficult and steep snow to navigate but nothing serious. Melting snow is running off rocks making hem slippery. Trial in saddle had a lot of standing water from melting snow. Warmed up quick. Views are worth the trip. (Sawatch and Front Ranges also the Kenosha Mountains. Made it to the observatory by 9:00 ( we had a seven year old with us). Road was very busy. Start early. Mostly summer trail conditions. Watch for the wet spots. Mountain goats gave birth recently. Keep your distance.
