 Jagged and Jupiter

July 19 - 24, 2020 I spent six days in the Weminuche Wilderness, along with two others, to climb to the summits of Jupiter Mountain and Jagged Mountain. The scenery was almost sensory overload, and it was a fantastic trip, but not without some difficulties.

Part 1 outlines our trip from Purgatory Flats to Jupiter's summit, lots of mountain goats, and a close call at Twin Thumbs Pass en route to Noname Basin.

Part 2 details our 18-hour journey to Jagged Mountain's summit and back during a hail storm, and the long trek back out Noname Basin to complete our loop.

Here's a taste of the experience:

Nice trip report and photos! Crazy how many "incidents" you guys had... very lucky & unlucky! On a side note, it's so sad how all the forests up there have died in the last 6 years or so. I've been (slowly) working on duplicating some older photos to make a before/after series showing the same scenes with healthy vs. dead trees. Pretty depressing.
