"The last few miles are always the hardest."

This quote was told to me by my friend Jeff after I failed to summit Capitol Peak the first attempt. Im sure he got that quote from one of the many motivational youtube videos he watches but that was the first words someone said to me that made me feel better and reinvigorated me to push for that final finish..

So it was only fitting to have Jeff and his dog Guru accompany me on the finishing 14er. With the Overland Vehicles we made this camping trip a great one. Sleeping on a real mattress, comforters and pillows. Crossbow target practice, tbone steaks with stuffed jalapeno and garlic bread for dinner. Salmon Lox for breakfast. Couldn't ask for better!

Sky Dweller. The aptly named watch I bought myself as a gift for the occasion.

I had a speech laid out about going full circle in this journey of mine. When I first started out 4 years ago money was tight and I was looking for a hobby that didn't cost. Through this journey I took the motivation, discipline, and attitude I learned from hiking and applied it to my businesses. So I thought that was kind of a full circle growth story taking what I learned here and applying it to other parts of my life. But then on Pyramid climber Kat told me its not full circle unless I go broke again lol. Lets not let that happen but just like climbing always prepared!

So maybe its not a full circle story but just your normal growth and entrepreneurial story. I ventured out to try something new, something I never thought I could do and in doing so I enriched all aspects of life from what I learned. Health and relationships most importantly became stronger. Doing better for my community and clients. The business growth came with that.

The end of a journey here. I hope I helped here to motivate others in hiking, climbing, and being a better person overall and if your on a similar journey good luck to you!

I know I€„¢ve told you that a few times now, but this is a major accomplishment that deserves hearing it more than once.

I€„¢ll miss living vicariously through your trip reports of fourteeners I haven€„¢t climbed yet, seeing a different perspective on ones I have, and musing about why the f we do this to ourselves when we€„¢re slogging up the likes of Lake Como Road or Capitol€„¢s approach trail. Here€„¢s to some kinder, gentler, lower-elevation outings in the future...unless you really do wanna revisit Pyramid and the Bells with me!
