 Lindsey - Before the storm

Start Time: 8:00AM
Summit Time: 12:20PM
End Time: 4:00PM
Who: Me, Pete, and Rachel

We caught a beautiful sunset the night before our hike on the drive in. The road to Huerfano River was a bit rough, especially with the 3-foot deep pond we encountered along the way...

The colder it gets the less attractive the early start sounds. It was a windy night at Huerfano River TH. Our tent was shaking all night like it was terrified of the wind.

Amazingly, at sunrise the wind stopped and we emerged to a beautiful morning.

Blanca is in the back, and Lindsey is off behind the hills on the left.

Finally Lindsey popped up on the left from behind the ridge.

The snow on the face didn‘t look to welcoming, so we opted to stick to the ridge the whole way. We were glad that we did.

It would‘ve been a small task to run over and bag the Iron Nipple on the way down, but we had a long drive ahead of us. Guess we‘ll have to come back. What a shame
Image

Even the trail was a bit slick with the hardpack. The sooner we were on the ridge the better off we were.

Up we go...

The descent of the ridge proved interesting. It was a bit sketchy, but we all made it without much trouble.

Goodbye Lindsey!

Thanks for driving Pete!

Beautiful time to be out

Our day on Lindsey was perfect. It was bluebird all day. Beautiful views all around. Who says it‘s too late to hike in October !?

See ya‘ll further down the trail...

... photos! This is one peak I'd like to re-climb, and your TR exemplifies why. Great stuff!
