Huron Peak - std route - the puppy bags his 2nd

Net-net, route in great shape. We departed Littleton at 4:15a, made the trailhead at 7a. The 4WD rode is navigable in an SUV with some clearance. Lots of people, camped all along the road to Winfield as well as the 4WD road. The parking lot at the trailhead was near full.

Trail was great; there's a reason it's an "easier" one. I had no idea about the remoteness or difficulty of getting a good view of the Three Apostles - this ascent is worth it just for those views. They're shown here on the way up.

Wildflowers in the basin are gorgeous.
shows the summer conditions in the basin.

Along the way, great views of Harvard and other peaks (I think Belford's in here?)
and Red Mountain in the distance

At the summit, there were twenty people, making it a little crowded. This of course is consistent with other peaks' trip reports this summer. These included two birthday hikers, a violinist (who played Happy B'Day twice, Bach and a hoedown, but alas, no Stones)

Finally, the obligatory pic of AreToo (the 14er climbing-est Black & Tan Coonhound puppy ever at this point I think) and I.

Great view of The Apostles from the summit.

Descent was uneventful; we were on the road at 1p.

Nice report & photos, thanks for posting. I was on Huron the day before and on La Plata while you were doing this hike.
