Ahh plans. You need them to get stuff done, to motivate and to arrange time for action. Sometimes they just don't work, but without them would you even be there in the 1st place. My original idea was a solo of a few peaks around Mosquito Pass. I was going to drive up to the trailhead and camp. Then get an early start and hit the southernmost peak 1st, then work my way north as far as I could and then ski out. On the way up Darrrel called and wanted to join. He met me at the trailhead and off we went. We had an absolutely stunning sunrise which was good and bad. Good for the beauty bad for the weather. There was a giant lenticular cloud blocking the sun and it's corn making effects from working their magic. After about 7 and 3/4 miles we reached our 1st objective, Mt Evans. This isn't the 14er but the 204th highest peak in Colorado and a very hard to get to 13er. 3 drainages east thru south are closed to access by surly property owners. The only reasonable way to access this peak is from Mosquito Pass.... More words and pictures at makingturns.com
