2010-11-05 Some ice and snow on the road but still good for most cars. Hard packed snow on 75% of the trail, brought snowshoes but not needed. Brought poles which were a huge help. Faust  1
2010-05-28 Wet, but clearable to the gate at the end. There were a couple of small snow drifts in the road. Adventurous people in cars can probably make it. The road will likely be snow-free by mid-week in the first week of June 2010. tmathews
2010-01-16 The trailhead is in fact closed for the winter. Parking at the Quandary Peak TH adds approximately 4 miles round trip (I think), but the road is well packed down, which would allow for easy hiking or snowmobiling to the TH. RestlessLegSyndrome
2009-12-13 Probably closed for the winter. I‘ll be going there in the next few days to determine the current closure location. BillMiddlebrook
2009-05-19 Open BillMiddlebrook
2009-05-17 Road is mostly clear to the TH. There are a couple drifts that have been driven through. It was passable to the TH for a Forester. sdkeil
2008-06-08 Reachable by 2wd. Doug Shaw
2008-05-04 Road still closed with snow - park at the Quandary TH winter closure at the start of the 851 road. BillMiddlebrook
2008-02-16 The 851 road is closed in the winter - park at the Quandary trailhead BillMiddlebrook
