Fair enough. I haven't been in the market for a car since I got the Acura. It was perfect for what I wanted at the time, but things have changed and now I need something else, and want an SUV. And I did not even notice the "new car" bit, didn't even notice Acura until I was looking at the graph on the bottom.

Yes, I use my Jeep primarily for 4WD roads and camping. In fact, I bought it used with 202k miles less than 4 years ago from a dealer. I am its 2nd owner and I believe that the first owner did take excellent care of the vehicle. The exterior body still looks like new and polished.

Not much of a car guy, but I have a Nissan Xterra that I've been plenty happy with.

Seems to strike a decent balance between economy, comfort, and capability.

Has a decent clearance and fairly short wheelbase which seems to handle the majority of issues.

Acura being so low is a little shocking to me. I've got a 2006 and literally the only thing I've ever had to get worked on was replacing the starter. Other than that, it's just been routine maintenance.

You'll note that the chart is for "2016 New Car"... 2006 was a long time ago.

Yes, this. Acura has slipped just in the last year or two, before that it was much closer to the top.

And I'd wager it has a *LOT* to do with electronic gizmo-bull$hit. I'd like to see reliability ratings that are based on mechanical/structural issues, discounting the electronic/entertainment bull$hit.

No doubt it'll be a big change. My dad has a Wrangler that, whenever I can, I'll hop in and take for a spin. But I only go see him twice a year, so obviously I don't get much time in it. I'm looking forward to getting into one on a more permanent basis, probably buying next summer, so I'll have to wait just a little bit longer to really get my hands on one.

I really like Nissan trucks and SUVs. I had a Titan for my (company) work truck for a while and loved every single thing about it. The ride was great. The performance, both on and off road was great. Visibility over the snub nose hood made seeing everything so easy that I felt confident taking it a lot of places that I never would even dream of taking the Sierra 2500 or F-250s that the company also owned (weight and wheel base also had something to do with that). But the gas mileage is horrible with Nissans. If it had been me paying for that gas every day (sometimes twice a day) I would have been in tears.

What is your budget?

Trying to keep it under 25, but that's a soft limit. If I found the right thing I'd be willing to go as high as 35. But it would have to have literally every single thing my gf and I want to go that high. Like I said earlier, a brand new Cherokee Trailhawk is my top choice, and I can get that for 31k.

I've got a 2016 Taco TRD Offroad. Love it. Has every bell and whistle out there STOCK, but it will be close to your high range in price.

I also drive a 2008 Wrangler X 4 door. Tough as nails and great on snow/rocks/mud.

I've taken the Taco up Tin Cup pass no problem and even did some rock crawling in Pike Forest. The Jeep has been up past Jaws.5 on Como road and never got stuck on my steep a** driveway in the snow.

I've got a friend that can help you out if you want some help when it comes time to buy. He's solid and a fleet guy, not a regular lot guy. PM me if you want his info.
