Mount Sherman - Iowa Gulch Road Closure

Post by tomery »

Haven't seen this posted anywhere but there is an indefinite road closure in place on Lake County Road 2 preventing access to the Iowa Gulch trailhead from Leadville as noted in the West Slopes trail description for Mount Sherman. It adds 4 miles in each direction on foot along the road if you decide to park at the closure and pursue the route anyway. It looks like it may still be possible to reach the trailhead via alternate dirt roads as evidenced by the (very scratched-up) rental Jeep Gladiator at the actual trailhead.
