Re: Locked gate at Rockdale/FR 381
Missouri from Rockdale was on my agenda within the next couple of weeks. If no one confirms the presence/lack of a gate before I go, I'll reply back to this thread.

I did see that second road, but it looked very different from what I remember the creek crossing looking like 8 or so years ago. Yesterday, I went by again and yes, you can drive downstream a ways from FS 381 to cross the creek and proceed to Clohesy Lake. All is good.Chicago Transplant wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 7:05 pm We did Huron today, driving by I saw the gate right off 390 signed at the cabins. Less than 100' after is a FS 381 sign and a non-gated road leading down. We didn't go down it but saw no gate as far as we could see from the road. Unfortunately for the OP I think you just missed the road, if you drive a little farther it's there on your left

I just did a loop from Clohesy to Missouri Gulch for Magdalene. All this recent information about a closed gate is fake news. We ended up walking from 2WD but plenty of vehicles at the upper TH.

Never went above my knees and I am 5'9. The current was totally doable, carried my friend's dog through them. The two main creeks are right at the start and back-to-back crossings, wore boots/chocos, and cached them after the second crossing. I had some great pictures, but lost my phone at the end of the day yesterday. Once the replacement comes in, I can post some pictures if you'd like.
