I will be coming from KC and staying in Dillon next week with plans for Kelso Ridge, The Sawtooth, Holy Cross, and some 13ers. I assume alpine starts will be fine, but the drives back to my lodging in the afternoon and evening may experience delays, correct?
I drove to Vail Monday 7/31 1PM. It took and extra hour due to stoppage starting at Gennesee to Idaho Springs. Note there were EIGHT I-70 constructions projects. Floyd Hill was the slowest.
I drove back to Denver 8/1 to beat the stated 9AM blasting time. Regular 90 minute drive. Hopefully fine after stated daily 4PM finish.
Really there no longer any good day of week. Weekdays there are endless construction delays. Weekends there is recreation traffic.
