Cirque Recommendations

Post by gonefishing05 »

In the past I have really enjoyed Lone Eagle cirque at Crater Lake and Mystic Island under Fools Peak. I am searching for recommendations on similar. Main goals are:

-Backpack in
-Alpine lake with trout (fly fishing)
-Class 2 or 3 summit from camp (12er, 13er, 14er all fine)
-Less than 12mi from TH to camp

This will be my gfs first backpacking trip so I really want to show her what CO has to offer. No concerns on fitness.

Would have loved to get into a backcountry permit from Bear Lake TH in RMNP but nothing available when we will be visiting mid- aug.

Currently looking at both Booth Lake and Pitkin Lake.

Thanks!

If you are not tied to the front range Lamphier Lake in the Fossil Ridge Wilderness has all of what you are looking for.

Thanks for the recommendations.

We ended up backpacking in to Kroenke Lk. The trip was amazing. I caught a number of native cutthroat and my gf loved backpacking and summitted her first 14er (Mt Harvard) from camp at Kroenke with me.

Such a great trip. Thanks again.
