Anyone been up to Iowa Gulch Trailhead or Dyer Mountain lately?

Post by Tim Edinger »

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anybody has been up to Iowa Gulch to access Dyer Mountain in recent days? Is the road clear up to the trailhead yet?
Thanks, Tim

No change. Still closed. You can use the dump road (CR6) or cut across 5th street and that’ll get you above where the sinkhole is. You will need high clearance 4x4 for the dump road.

Iowa gulch trailhead is also a loooong ways from being dry as well. Once you get to the actual dirt road part, you can only go about a mile up. So you’ll still have 2 extra miles of road skinning/skating each way.

i enjoy offroading and have a more capable vehicle than driver

dyer mountain is not even slightly worth the pinstripes i got from that BS. 0/10, do not recommend, one of my poorer route choices, would not repeat the dump road

Sink hole closure not an issue anymore?

CR2 is still closed and will be closed for the forseeable future. You need to take the dump road (CR6) or cut over from CR1 to CR2. This will not change for a long time based on how slow they were last year at fixing it when it was closed for the entire year. I will update the TH conditions when this status changes.

Thank you. Was assuming the last poster meant they drove up to TH. I missed something, but won’t plan on the road being open all the way up. Am not interested in the dump road for what I may be doing up there. Thanks again for this update
