Re: Not Another F---ing Fourteener Podcast
Geo, what little I know about you, I know you’re a creative badass. I’m not much of a podcast person, but I wish you the best on this thing moving forward!! I’m sure you’ll draw a great audience very shortly. Keep getting after it, you can’t stop now
Re: Not Another F---ing Fourteener Podcast
Thanks for creating this. I look forward to following and listening. Is there any way to get an RSS feed for this podcast so people can use their preferred app for listening? I found this on spotify's site but don't know if you maybe already have it enabled. I would prefer not to enable spotify's walled podcast garden more unless absolutely necessary. https://support.spotify.com/us/podcaste ... -rss-feed/
Re: Not Another F---ing Fourteener Podcast
Thanks, everyone! Seems like the second episode finally finished processing, and the TR for anyone who is more interested in reading than listening during their bathroom breaks is here: https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/triprepo ... trip=22565
Just ask me how I pronounce BV's full name. I get a lot of, "You're not from around here, are ya?" looks for that one.
It's also on Amazon Music, Pocket Casts (allegedly free), and Castbox, or at least those are the ones that I've received confirmation on. I could also experiment with uploading episodes to Soundcloud, although it looks like I'd have to do that manually. Not that I'd mind, as it is a way to procrastinate writing/recording further episodes in a way that nevertheless makes me feel like I've done something!

Good luck with this project! I gave your first episode a listen and just wanted to say you have a great voice for storytelling. It sounds very professionally done.

Thank you for the kind words, which were especially gratifying to read after spending the better part of this past weekend being irritated at what felt like literally everyone else in my not-so-quiet neighborhood for trying to make a cameo on upcoming episodes with their stomping, yelling, honking, engine revving, etc., so I'm glad my efforts to make it sound good are somewhat paying off.Wildernessjane wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 7:19 pm Good luck with this project! Newest episode is readable here and listenable (huh, apparently that is a word already, since it's not pinging spellcheck's radar) here if you've got Spotify (previous tips about Pocket Casts, Castbox, and Amazon Music still apply, plus the RSS feed presumably still works.
Right now I've got new episodes recorded and/or scheduled to go every week through August 5th, after which there will be a one-week break, because the episode coming out that day will be a good one to have a pause for reflection afterward, I feel. I'll probably stop updating this thread unless there's a Very Special Episode (which there is one already in the line-up) that I'd really like to toot my own horn about.

Re: Not Another F---ing Fourteener Podcast
Well, I admit when I saw this pop up in the feed I didn't exactly jump all over it in excitement like some. I mean after all, with all the times we've either carpooled and/or done some long hikes together, my first thought was "why would I want to listen to Geo ramble on in such a format where I can't even interject some snarky comment to get a reaction now and then?" Plus, haven't I surely already heard, and in a few cases actually participated in, many of the tales to be told?
But faced with the 14hr round trip drive to/from Teakettle, I was desperate for ANYTHING with which to pass the time so I downloaded the first two episodes on Amazon Music to add to the Duolingo and other such podcasts I had ready.
I must say I was pleasantly surprised and found myself wondering who it is that's doing this suspiciously professional sounding podcast and what have they done with Geo? Your reading voice is quite different (in a good way!) from your typical rambli... er, I mean, conversational voice. And you were quite creative in the way you weaved all sorts of backstory and humorous interjections into accounts I had already heard at least portions of over the years, so it kept the telling fresh.
So now it looks like I'll have another source of podcast distraction for some of the long solo drives to come as you come out with new episodes!

^I am copying this whole comment and using it as my entire pitch for why a literary agent/manager/publisher should should draft a contract for a(n audio)book deal!

Re: Not Another F---ing Fourteener Podcast
Reviving my podcast thread for a promised/threatened "Very Special Episode" update: tomorrow marks the tenth anniversary of my very first (but alas, not last) SAR incident, which took place on Longs Peak, and this is the first time I've told the full story (or at least, as full as I can remember ten years on) publicly. I decided to publish it today rather than on my usual Monday schedule so anyone who wants some listening material to make them question their own decisions over the weekend of July 27th will have it available.
Episode is here on Spotify, and here's the RSS for anyone on a different service: https://anchor.fm/s/f380746c/podcast/rss
Have fun and be safe!

I didn't know you had a podcast, Geo! You tell the best stories, so I'm sure it's good. I can't wait to listen to this one about Longs. I hope you're doing well and staying busy (but safe!!!) after finishing the 14ers.HikesInGeologicTime wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:34 am Reviving my podcast thread for a promised/threatened "Very Special Episode" update: tomorrow marks the tenth anniversary of my very first (but alas, not last) SAR incident, which took place on Longs Peak, and this is the first time I've told the full story (or at least, as full as I can remember ten years on) publicly. You should get A2 on I’m sure they would have some interesting insights on the 14ers!
