Staci and I are working on our Crested Butte self-imposed list.
Goal is to finish our "inner circle" of peaks in 2024, which would be about 60 peaks and points. 14 to go.

Speaking of, anyone interested in TRs from all those 12ers over there?

Maybe work on the Centennials list.
And to fish more.

Not making a specific set of goals in 2024 because weather/life always diverts me. I still have a great time, but am disappointed I didn’t do the peaks i set out to do. I plan to make a reservation to bag snowmass in late July, but otherwise just stay healthy and have fun getting into the mountains as much as I can.

After finishing the 14ers in 2019 I initially decided not to commit to any more lists going forward. Gradually I made at least some vague goals. Now for next year I'm coming full circle.

Lists to pursue in 2024: ALL OF THEM!!! I'm now chasing every list!!!
14ers 2nd lap
14ers calendar grid
14ers sub-summits (almost there!)
13ers - Cents, Bicents, ranked, unranked
14er snowflakes (Frozen Finisher some day??)
13er snowflakes
Zone completions
Great Traverses
Not So Great Traverses
Fun Scrambles
Hard Scrambles
What Was I Thinking!?! Scrambles
Snow climbs
Rock climbs
Climb out of bed
Climb up the walls
Climb into Fort Knox (ok, well maybe not EVERY list...)

To be clear, I'm not really planning to actually finish any of these lists in 2024 (except the 14er sub-summits) - I'm just opening my targets up wider.

In a way, chasing all the lists is a lot like chasing none of them because I'm not bound to any particular set of peaks or timetables.

It makes it easier to say yes to partnering with all sorts of people because, instead of just having a few select targets, now it's way easier to find at least one list I can count just about anything towards. So it's all about what strikes my fancy on a given weekend or who makes a good pitch for me to join this or that. So if you're working on the 14ers and want a partner - reach out and I'll see if I can match it with my 2nd lap or calendar grid or something so we can both check something off of some list or another!

I try not to get too attached to my goals and try to stay flexible, but I hope 2024 includes:

Mount Hood (OR)
Kings Peak (UT)
La Plata
Various peaks in northern CO (13ers/12ers in Rocky Mountain NP)

I'd love to hit Gannett in WY but I'd need to make some friends for that.

Also planning a two week long road trip to WA and OR, but I am going with a friend who isn't into hiking mountains, so sticking to flatter hikes and backpacking the Olympic coast. I'd love to get redemption on Mount Adams after a disaster of an attempt in 2022, but I don't think I can trick my friend into that, ha!

Finally, just keep exploring National Park Service units. I'm at 74, and could come close to 100 by the end of 2024 if I keep on exploring.

My goals are to get the following 5
five 14ers to get to 55 on the checklist.

Snowmass
Maroon
El Diente
Sunlight
Windom

Which will move me 5 steps closer to the bigger goal of never again having a checklist of mountain peaks.

Nolan's 14 attempt - I've generally avoided talking about it because it's such a big goal and easy to talk big but hard to execute. After a Slowlans (10/14 at least) and trip report I guess talking about it forces a little bit more personal accountability?

Chip away at the 14ers/13ers - Nolan's training and scouting will take priority, but no reason I can't hit a few more new peaks as training along the way, just won't be top priority since I've done most of the readily accessible 14ers already.

A couple more winter 14ers - I didn't get many peaks last winter and I'll be pickier about weather than I have in the past, but it's nice to do something different once in a while.

San Jacinto project (CA) - I want to get out there in late spring if schedule/finances allow for an unconventional C2C2C route that didn't happen last year due to snow. Will also keep me training over the winter.

Hike with other people - I always say this and rarely follow through, but I'm a CMC trip leader now so should actually lead trips, plus would be nice to meet some more 14ers.com folks as well.

Finally quit my job and overpay for a house out west. Get at least to the 50 mark for 14ers. Ski more. Gannett Peak
