I think "no hip belt" can be a good answer, but it should be paired with, "carrying weight that does not necessitate a hip belt". Day trips that's pretty realistic, but for whatever trip the OP's 80L pack is for (hunting?) I wouldn't suggest it.

That's kind of what I was getting at. By all means, if you are going for a backpack trip and hauling more than 20-25lbs of gear, carry a larger pack with a hipbelt. But unless you are carrying several gallons of water and a dumbbell or two in your pack, I'm not sure I'd know how to stuff one of my 20-22L running pack with enough weight to warrant a hipbelt anyway, and I am certainly no ultralighter
