Of note, I don't think I'd group Xterras, Broncos, Blazers, and Explorers in the same group. Maybe the old ones of the latter two, but the newer Blazers are crossovers.
i have the same model pathfinder (98), I used to be a toyota mechanic so i would have preferred to buy a 4runner, but they are 2-3x the cost of a pathfinder, so i chose the pathfinder. it has been better than i expected but i know the newer nissans arent very good. i dont even know what to get when this one dies as all the old 4x4's have gotten so expensive, maybe an xterra

Really amazing what you can do with the Bustang service, hiking a few more miles than usual in, the odd hitch, and optionally a bike.

Along with the (free) Summit Stage service, you've got most of the Front Range and Sawatch covered. I've taken the bus to do Pikes Peak, Blue Sky, Bierstadt, I've taken it all the way to Durango to start the CT and Telluride for an overnight on Sneffels even. You can easily get to Massive, Elbert, all the 14ers outside of Buena Vista and Salida.

I plan most of my trips now to be from bus stop to bus stop. You can get pretty creative. Last month I stopped at Pine Junction/Pine to traverse Mt. Blue Sky, ending up in Idaho Springs which also has a Bustang stop. Kinda great when you don't even have to go back to a car.

Hell last week I took the bus services to Hoosier Pass -- Hoosier Pass is a regular stop now by the way (if you don't want to pay for the Quandary Shuttle) -- did Hoosier Ridge to Boreas Pass, kept going on the Continental Divide Ridge to Georgia Pass, yadda yadda, Grays/Torreys, and ending up on Loveland Pass. A hitch from a friendly construction worker at 6:00am the next day and I'm back in town. I basically did the entire Sangre de Cristo Traverse -- twice -- in a similar fashion, as there are stops in both Alamosa (where I used the local taxi service to get to Lake Como Road, no threat of break-ins without a vehicle to brake into!) and Salida.

Public transportation for the win.

2006 Subaru Outback (not green).
Honestly, I miss the trains and buses of Germany and other EU nations. Not having a personal vehicle was definitely on the pro side of the pro/con list while I was living there.

Fair point on the newer versions vs the more vintage models...in a fit of nostalgia I was thinking of the old ones...

A 2022 Ford Bronco 4x4.

Two-door V-6 10-speed automatic.

And I f***ing love it!

This is interesting so far, based on discussions over the years, would have thought there'd be more Jeep or 4Runners chiming in

Cool. Which trim option do you have?

Outer Banks. Because I wanted the painted door handles and fender flares.

It's kind of unique now because they don't make two-doors in this trim anymore, and they don't offer cloth seats either, which is stupid, I think. The last thing I want to do after leaving my truck at a trailhead for hours is slip into a hot leather or plastic seat.

They also don't offer 4-A anymore unless you get the Sasquatch package, which I originally considered, but then decided I didn't need 35" tires and Bilstein shocks for what I do. It handles amazingly on the highway - more like a car than a truck. The two-door has a pretty short wheelbase, too, for tight turns. Front lockers, one-pedal drive option, trail turn assist... Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Sand, and Mud/Ruts G.O.A.T. modes, plus you can adjust the lockers for more (turn them on or off to override the mode). I've used them all. They actually work! Hard top. 12" screen. I've taken it on a bunch of Jeep roads with no problems at all. I do not go rock-crawling, though.

Everyone who's driven my Bronco wants one.

Thanks for being nice. For some reason, Broncos attract a lot of hate. I really do appreciate it!

really??? why?

The Bronco is a classic, yes different from the vintage Broncos...but still. (The normal Bronco is a bit different from the Sport version as you know).

The introduction commercial that Ford had for the rollout was very cool.

It seems mostly from Jeep owners.
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.
