Well me too. But everything Bill has done for this community has been out of the kindness of his heart, and I'm sure not without some expense on his end. We aren't entitled to the website existing (not trying to imply you said that, more reminding myself). I do hope someone would be willing to take it on, but it would have to be the right person. I know Bill has said that he doesn't want to see it grow stale.climbnowworklater wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2026 6:31 am End of 14ers.com? Four more years, then what?
What's the continuation plan? Although I don't use the site much anymore, I hope it's available for decades to come.
Start of 14ers.com?

Bill has spoiled us with this site. When he no longer administers it, I will try to keep this in mind: "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good." I am sure Bill will make every attempt to turn this over to someone, or some entity, that has as much passion for it as he does. However, we may have to accept that there could be changes. This is just an opinion, but when that time comes, having this informational 14ers and 13ers website with flaws would be better than not having it.

Re: Start of 14ers.com?
I guarantee that Bill Middlebrook has spent far more of his time, effort, and money on the 14’ers.com website, than most of us can imagine.
Because it’s (still) entirely free to us, some will inevitably take it for granted, at least to some degree, and especially those under 30 years old, who have never known life without the Internet.
At least there has always been some amount of acknowledgment, whether in the form of random Thank You’s to Bill, threads that express appreciation for the site and the people we have met here, and monetary donations, but we still haven’t named a high 13’er after him yet! (He is probably going to hate that idea).

Thanks for this, I didn't know it was out there. I remember that fateful day in 2007 like it was yesterday. I have so many other memories associated specifically with the .com back in those days.MonGoose wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2026 9:36 am Here's some background on the history of the website:

Bill created an institution, whether he knew it or not.

It's so great to hear from you and I hope you're doing well.
