From the little I know of you, you're a good man (even if you are only a pre-lidar cent Finisher But that still puts you way ahead of me on the quest for collecting tiny little check marks of certain flavors)

Some friends offline also commented on the OP's use of all caps when announcing this as a finishers only event and how that was perceived as somehow being an arrogant, exclusive, "you're not welcome here" kind of message rather than simply, "hey, we have a targeted group in mind for this particular event" kind of thing. There are only a tiny handful of Frozen Finishers so that would be presumably easy to coordinate a gathering for them - but with thousands of us run of the mill finishers like me, texting just isn't feasible.

Who knows, maybe the OP was trying to be a jerk - I don't really know him and I've not been involved in the planning for this event, but I did enjoy going last year. If he posted those all caps words with malicious, elitest intent - shame on him! But I kinda think it's more likely people are just reading too much into the post.

Anyways, you're no more of a jackass than I am...

Personally as someone who has been working on the 14ers for 25 years, and needs 4 more to finish, this increases my motivation to get my last 4 done next summer so that I can attend this event in fall 2027.
The all caps part was perhaps a little iffy, but that is a mistake anyone could have made.

Honestly the whole 14ers thing is on the honor system anyway, so if you haven't climbed all 54 or 56 or 58 or whatever, but you REALLY wanted to go, I am thinking you could probably get past security and find a way past the fingerprinting, DNA swabs and retinal scans and be able to blend in for at least 30 minutes before someone calls the police. Just pass yourself off with a generic name and say you don't really post on the site often...

I definitely had Finisher fever this summer. It is a great journey to do all of them and they take you to places you may never have visited otherwise.

I agree with daway8 about the earlier finishers doing these peaks without all the helpful tech, gear, gpx, etc. that we have/use today. And the fantastic trail work CFI has done as well.

I was telling my friend yesterday that to go back and essentially repeat a mountain to get the last 80ft to the summit (El D for me) and to go back for 3-4" for East Crestone, is definitely a certain kind of "crazy", especially to those who don't chase tiny check marks and snowflakes.

I also agree with Sean, it is motivating to finish and I'm hopeful to attend this event in 2027. And it would be fantastic to meet some of the well known names on here that have helped me and many others in their journey with these mountains.

Sounds fun! I have a few questions about the event:
1) Are we being elites or making fun of ourselves being elitist?
2) What's the dress code: formal or a 14ers.com t-shirt autographed by Bill?
3) Does my +1 have to be a finisher?

Since everyone thinks finishers are snobby elitists, I think it would be hilarious to have a snobby elitist ball where we dress up and pretend to be as elitist as everyone assumes we are.

Now we're talking - somebody finally acknowledged who the TRUE Finishers are!!! (and, yes, I intentionally used all caps there since that's apparently a very highly scandalous thing to do and I'm in a scandalous mood tonight!)
