Just got a call from Park County Sheriff's office dispatcher and they just talked to Clear Creek animal control, they told them they are sending up a SAR team to get the dog, apparently they have cell contact with someone that has the dog but needs help getting him down.
SWEET!!!
The older you get, the better you get, unless you're a banana.
Nice, what a great outcome. Hope the dog survives this encounter. We don't know the whole story of how this happened, but at this point does it appear the dog was abandoned? Could be some folks missing on the mountain at this time... perhaps.
Nice effort by all you guys- very touching how much you guys care, even for "just a dog".
I just got back from up there. Chose not to follow down into the sawtooth area because I didn't feel comfortable with the weather moving in, but watched for about 2 hours from the summit. They (I believe 8 or 9 people) definitely found the dog, and were moving back towards Bierstadt before the snow blocked out visibility. Some heroic effort going out to this dog today for sure.
carborundum - thanks for the info! it's a relief to think that hopefully everyone's on the same page and can come home! could you tell if the dog was walking or being carried?
