Re: My 14er record attempt
what's the ridge like from Mt Wilson to Wilson Peak? or is he gonna drop below Gladstone and back up to Wilson Peak?
Re: My 14er record attempt
Yes. Traversing that ridge would require ascending Gladstone, and provided he gets down the north side of Mount Wilson safely, the ascent to the Rock of Ages saddle (where he'll likely turn off for Wilson Peak) is not difficult.forbins_mtn wrote:what's the ridge like from Mt Wilson to Wilson Peak? or is he gonna drop below Gladstone and back up to Wilson Peak?

Re: My 14er record attempt
Looks like the SPOT temporarily malfunctioned given the time lapse as it didn't register him being on the El-D summit.

He's moving faster than the ten minute interval on the tracking function. The track is not following his route closely as a result.gregory_fischer wrote:Looks like the SPOT temporarily malfunctioned given the time lapse as it didn't register him being on the El-D summit.

Re: My 14er record attempt
I was wondering about that, too. It didn't look like #44 was from the summit of ED - and no others are as close. But I agree: it looks like there was a malfunction in the tracking. Given that #43 was 55 minutes before #44, he must've summited ED in between those two.DeucesWild wrote:He's moving faster than the ten minute interval on the tracking function. Re: My 14er record attempt
I'll post it, happily. Cant do it until tomorrow though. Hang tight.jasayrevt wrote:Where is that spreadsheet update?!its_not_a_tuba wrote:I just dorked out and made a spreadsheet to compare his times to Cave Dog's. Homie knocked off the first group in 3 hours and 15 minutes compared to CD's 4:25. Sweet! Of course the train will set it so that his total basin time will be 2:45 faster than CD's but it does appear he is climbing faster as well.j/k

Re: My 14er record attempt
Just got an e-mail from Bill, who is currently in Telluride, says he is leaving now to go to the trailhead to cook Homie some dinner before he arrives. As confirmed recently by several posters, Bill says that he is getting hammered with rain up there, but still moving well.
He also posted a new blog update:

So he did the El D-Wilson traverse in less than an hour, in heavy rain? Wow.

This is amazing to watch.
Go Homie!
