Re: My 14er record attempt
Just wanted to add my thanks, even though it's been said, that was awe-inspiring. Seeing the previous record was one thing, but watching a serious assault on it live was amazing. Thanks for letting us tag along!

It's not how fast you can go
The force goes into the flow
If you pick up the beat
You can forget about the heat
More than just survival
More than just a flash
More than just a dotted line
More than just a dash
It's a test of ultimate will
The heartbreak climb uphill
Got to pick up the pace
If you want to stay in the race
More than just blind ambition
More than just simple greed
More than just a finish line
Must feed this burning need
In the long run...
From first to last
The peak is never passed
Something always fires the light that gets in your eyes
One moment's high, and glory rolls on by
Like a streak of lightning
That flashes and fades in the summer sky
Your meters may overload
You can rest at the side of the road
You can miss a stride
But nobody gets a free ride
More than high performance
More than just a spark
More than just the bottom line
Or a lucky shot in the dark
In the long run...
You can do a lot in a lifetime
If you don't burn out too fast
You can make the most of the distance
First you need endurance
First you've got to last...

Thanks so much for letting us all follow you on this whirlwind journey and letting us cheer you on. Awesome effort Homie!BillWright wrote:It's over... Homie is done. Too much pain. Tool slow.
A lot more of my thoughts later, but thanks for everyone for now.
And great effort to his team. Way to be there for him.

Way to go Homie!"I personally am not concerned about holding the record. For me the goal was to strive to do my best in this competition and to learn about myself, others, and nature in the process. The record was only a guideline for which to focus my endeavors. In these terms, I achieved my goals beyond any of my expectations. "

Homie, you are truly an inspiration. Many people have posted (and plenty of others who didn't post) here that they have found an extra push, or strength in their everyday routines simply by thinking of you and what you were going through.
I am proud to be apart of such an amazing community. One which you have captivated and enlivened over the past week.
I know you will have a wonderful reunion with your family and they (and thousands of people from across the country who have followed you) are extremely proud of your accomplishment.
Homie, you will always be remembered for what you did accomplish, not for what you didn't.
Thank you for this.

What a great run, Homie and crew! Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Watching all this in real time made me really appreciate how tough the speed record is. Wow!
